Overview Small asset size credit union is looking for a hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to manage a team of two accountants. This position requires the CFO to roll up their sleeves, get in the accounting trenches, and work together to maintain accurate financials. This position allows you to stay in touch with day-to-day accounting. The CFO role provides counsel to the CEO and Board of Directors and shapes the credit union’s internal accounting, financial and asset/liability management operations. Duties and Responsibilities • Prepares all required/scheduled reports which summarize and forecast the credit union’s business activity and financial position in areas of assets, liabilities, income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations. • Prepares the NCUA 5300 Call Report • Prepares the EOM Board Reports • Prepares the Balance Sheet and Income Statement • Prepares the operating and other budgets for Board approval, including preparation and analysis of subsequent variance reports as required. • Prepares and submits bi-weekly payroll and reconciles 401(k) matching. • Performs SSA and Medicare account verifications and member balance information. • Completes back up withholdings • Manage the credit union’s Liquidity, Capitalization, ALM, and Interest Rate Risk policies. • Provides data to third-party vendor for completion of CECL worksheet and ALMPro report. • Serve on the Asset/Liability Committee (ALCO). • Manage investment portfolio. Recommends purchase or sale of securities and investments, ensuring compliance with the Credit Union’s Investments and ALM policies, goals, and objectives, as well as all applicable federal rules and regulations. • Supervises and assists accounting staff in the preparation and review of GL account reconcilements. • Ensures ACH policies and procedures are followed, adequate accounting systems controls are implemented, and proper records maintained. • Process any Levy, Lien, and/or Garnishments received. • Responsible for supervising all staff who report directly, including performance appraisal. • Works with external auditors, internal auditors, and federal credit union examiners to ensure the credit union maintains compliance with prescribed accounting methods set out in regulation, law, FASB rules, and generally accepted accounting principles. • Post Fix Assets and Prepaid Expense on Flex • Prepare Month end entries for GL • CECL calculation • Investments Accounting – work with a third party for posting and reports • Review financial statements with CEO prior to closing • Submit required annual filings • Closes the GL • Performs other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience: • A college degree in accounting, finance or business plus a minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience in a credit union, or equivalent combination of education and experience. • The ability to lead and supervise others is required. • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and communicate effectively with management, staff, and members of the Board of Directors. • Understanding of GAAP, audit functions, procedures, and related regulations. • Experience managing dormant accounts and the escheatment process. Other Skills: • A full working knowledge and ability to utilize the following software programs: • Microsoft Office • Asset/Liability Management reports • Familiarity with credit union accounting terminology and standards. • Familiarity with credit union system terminology and acronyms Job Requirements: • Ability to lift 25 pounds • Sit for long periods of time • Authorization to work in the United States • Must be bondable and pass a detailed background check Schedule: • Monday to Friday • Day shift Available Benefits: • Health insurance • Dental insurance • Vision insurance • Retirement plan • Vacation/Sick Leave Work Remotely: Only as needed during emergencies or inclement weather events and holidays.
