About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to join our team based in Mason, Ohio. This pivotal role involves leading the development of embedded software solutions for our Infrared Camera product lines. The ideal candidate will support all phases of the software engineering lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to implementation, testing, and deployment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, reliable software that meets stringent customer specifications and operational standards. Your leadership will be instrumental in guiding junior engineers, optimizing development processes, and ensuring project milestones are achieved on time and within budget. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge defense technology and to influence the future of infrared imaging systems used in critical national security applications.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering, computer science, or a related field, complemented by at least nine years of relevant engineering experience. A graduate degree with a minimum of seven years of experience is also acceptable. In cases where a degree is not held, a minimum of thirteen years of extensive engineering experience is required. Proven expertise in embedded software development, with at least two years of hands-on experience using C/C++, is essential. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of two years working with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), and experience leading engineering teams for at least two years. Experience with low-level software development, such as drivers and Board Support Packages (BSPs), is highly desirable. The role demands strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across teams.
Responsibilities
Lead and assist in the planning, execution, and management of large technical projects related to embedded software development.
Apply software engineering principles and best practices throughout the entire software lifecycle, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
Define and document requirements and workflows that inform the development of software components, ensuring they meet technical, schedule, and cost objectives.
Perform comprehensive unit, integration, and system testing activities to validate software functionality and performance.
Collaborate effectively with team members across various departments to facilitate seamless project execution.
Support bid and proposal efforts by providing accurate cost and schedule estimates for software development tasks.
Provide mentorship, guidance, and training to junior engineers and team members to foster professional growth and technical excellence.
Identify opportunities for process improvements, system enhancements, and product innovations, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Generate detailed technical documentation to support software releases, including design documents, test plans, and user manuals.
Support the acquisition of US security clearance by maintaining compliance with security protocols and regulations.
