About The Role We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join Waymo's Compute Team. This hybrid role involves developing and optimizing high-performance GPU primitives and abstractions that are critical to our autonomous vehicle compute platform. You will collaborate closely with internal hardware teams and external partners on System-on-Chip (SoC) projects, focusing on GPU architecture and performance. Your responsibilities will include managing the bring-up, correctness, and performance of onboard GPU stacks on new platforms, enhancing testing infrastructure for continuous integration and deployment, and creating profiling and debugging tools to ensure optimal GPU performance. Reporting to a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a vital role in advancing Waymo's autonomous vehicle capabilities through innovative software solutions. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field Minimum of three years of industry experience in software development Proven expertise in C++ programming Experience with full-system simulation frameworks such as SystemC or Gem5 Solid understanding of GPU hardware architecture Proficiency in performance analysis tools and debugging techniques Enthusiasm for developing comprehensive GPU software stacks, from hardware to application level Responsibilities Develop high-performance GPU primitives and abstractions to support Waymo’s scalable accelerator codebase across diverse GPU backends Collaborate with hardware teams and external partners on SoC projects, emphasizing GPU architecture and integration Manage the bring-up, correctness, and performance tuning of the onboard GPU stack on new platforms Contribute to testing infrastructure development, enhancing CI/CD workflows for GPU software, detecting bugs early, and automating alerts Create and improve profiler and debugger tools to facilitate GPU platform development and optimization Benefits Competitive salary ranging from $204,000 to $259,000 USD, commensurate with experience and location Participation in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program and equity incentive plan Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance Generous paid time off and flexible work arrangements Opportunities for professional development and career growth within a pioneering autonomous vehicle company Equal Opportunity Waymo is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
