Role Overview We’re looking for a Creative Director to own Matter’s brand vision and voice across every grid post, Instagram reel, social platform and creator relationship. This role is the big-picture mind behind our owned brand and social presence and the connective tissue that keeps a growing roster of part-time creators, contractors, and influencers producing content that feels like one brand, not ten. You’ll set the content vision, then direct a team of platform specialists to execute it. You’ll also build and lead our influencer, UGC, ambassador, and affiliate programs. The bar is simple: every post, video, and partnership should feel unmistakably Matter: aspirational, credible, and worth sharing. You’ll work closely with the founding team to translate Matter’s story into content that drives awareness, community, and demand. Core Responsibilities Strategy & Brand Cohesion • Own the end-to-end social content strategy across all owned channels • Develop the big-picture content ideas, themes, and series that define Matter’s social presence • Set the editorial calendar, posting cadence, and platform-specific strategy • Act as the guardian of brand cohesion—ensuring tone, visuals, and messaging stay consistent so social never becomes a patchwork of disconnected posts • Partner with the founding team on brand voice, positioning, and campaign moments Owned Social Channels • Lead strategy and output across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, and Reddit • Direct Instagram content spanning both lifestyle storytelling and design-forward content that showcases Matter’s technology • Build a TikTok presence that’s native, fast-moving, and culturally fluent • Oversee long-form YouTube content that goes deeper on Matter’s product, science, and story • Establish a credible point of view on X and Reddit that earns trust in communities that reward authenticity • Efficiently repurpose top-performing content to secondary channels (e.g., Facebook) without diluting quality Team & Workflow Management • Hire, manage, and direct a roster of part-time creators and contractors across platforms (lifestyle creators, graphic designers, video editors, platform specialists) • Funnel all content through a clear review and approval process so every creator is executing against one cohesive vision • Brief, coach, and give feedback that levels up the team’s output over time • Build scalable workflows, templates, and brand guidelines that let the team move fast without losing consistency Influencer & Creator Marketing • Own Matter’s influencer and creator strategy end to end • Build and scale a UGC engine across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, leveraging tools like Storytime to source and manage creators • Develop a brand ambassador program—a deeper, more committed tier than a standard affiliate • Launch and grow an affiliate creator program, enabling creators to build and monetize their own Matter meal plans • Negotiate, brief, and manage creator relationships to ensure on-brand, high-performing partnerships Data & Insights • Track engagement, growth, reach, and conversion across every channel and creator program • Use performance data and audience insights to sharpen content and reallocate effort • Report on what’s working, what’s not, and what’s next—and continuously iterate What We’re Looking For • 4–6+ years in social media and/or creator marketing, ideally in consumer, food, wellness, fitness, or lifestyle brands • A proven content strategist with strong creative instincts and a sharp eye • Experience managing creators, contractors, or small teams and getting consistent, on-brand output from them • Native fluency across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, and Reddit—you understand what each platform rewards • Hands-on experience building UGC, influencer, ambassador, or affiliate programs • Obsession with brand cohesion and an allergy to off-brand, low-quality content • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, moving fast, and building from the ground up Why Matter • Own and define the social voice of a category-defining brand from day one • Build the team, systems, and programs behind Matter’s entire social and creator presence • Tight collaboration with the founding team • Competitive compensation + meaningful equity
